Every year on April 28, the world comes together to observe the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, a day designated by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. This observance serves as a reminder of the critical importance of prioritizing safety, health, and dignity in every working environment—be it a corporate office, a community field site, or a healthcare facility.
At Child Help Foundation (CHF), safety and health are deeply rooted in our work ethic and organizational culture. As an NGO that actively engages in fieldwork, community outreach, and direct service delivery, we recognize the immense value of maintaining safe and secure environments not only for the communities we serve but also for our own team members who dedicate themselves to this cause.
CHF has always strived to maintain a workplace where every volunteer feels protected, respected, and empowered. Our internal safety protocols, employee wellness programs, and regular awareness sessions ensure that health and safety are never an afterthought but an integral part of our operations.
Our proactive approach has been recognized and celebrated on prestigious platforms. At the World HRD Congress, CHF was awarded “The Most Promising NGO to Work For”, an acknowledgment of our commitment to cultivating a positive, inclusive, and secure workplace environment. This award reflects our dedication not only to our external social work but also to the holistic development and well-being of our internal team.
Child Help Foundation also takes strong measures to ensure a safe and respectful environment through the effective implementation of the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace) Act. We have an active Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and conduct regular POSH training and sensitization sessions for all our employees.
Going a step further, CHF extends its expertise by conducting POSH awareness sessions for other organizations and institutions. These workshops are designed to educate teams on identifying, addressing, and preventing workplace harassment, helping to create safer spaces across industries. We firmly believe that fostering respectful workplaces is a shared responsibility, and we are proud to contribute to this change not just within, but beyond our own walls.
Our efforts in promoting community health, especially among vulnerable and underserved populations, have also been widely appreciated. At the World CSR Day 2024, CHF was honoured with the “Best in Health” award, celebrating our impactful initiatives that have reached thousands across the country.
From organizing free health camps for women and nutritional awareness drives in tribal areas to launching school health check-up programs and sanitation awareness campaigns, CHF has always placed health at the core of its mission. These recognitions validate our relentless work in creating healthier societies and underscore the importance of NGOs in building sustainable public health systems.
The theme of this year’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work emphasizes the need for a culture of prevention. At CHF, we believe that ensuring occupational health and safety is a shared responsibility. Whether it is educating rural workers about safe agricultural practices or training our own team members in emergency protocols, our approach is collaborative and community-centred.
As we observe this important day, we invite individuals, corporations, and institutions to reflect on their roles in promoting workplace safety. It is not merely about compliance but about compassion, care, and consciousness in our everyday actions.
