Imagine walking barefoot for miles every day—through dusty roads and uneven paths—just to reach school. Unfortunately, this is not just a story, but a harsh reality for many children in India. On World Bicycle Day, observed every year on June 3rd, we celebrate more than just a mode of transport—we celebrate access to education, freedom, and the power of mobility.
Recognized by the United Nations, World Bicycle Day highlights the importance of bicycles as a sustainable, simple, affordable, and eco-friendly mode of transportation. At Child Help Foundation, we believe bicycles are more than just two wheels and a frame—they are tools for transformation.
In line with this vision, Child Help Foundation made a meaningful impact this year through its Education Support Programme in Molarband, Badarpur, New Delhi, on 10th April 2025. This initiative brought hope and relief to school-going children who had to walk 3–4 kilometres every day just to attend classes. Their dedication is inspiring, but the long journeys often affect their attendance, health, and overall academic performance.

To ease their daily struggles, CHF gifted 9 bicycles to students. These weren’t just gifts—they were lifelines. With a bicycle, a child now reaches school faster, safer, and less tired, with more energy to learn and grow. The joy on their faces as they rode their new bicycles was a sight to behold—pure, unfiltered happiness powered by possibility.
But CHF’s efforts didn’t stop there.
Recognizing that a quality education environment goes beyond transportation, CHF also distributed school bags, notebooks, crayons, and stationery kits to 30 students. This ensured that the students not only reached school comfortably but also had the tools they needed to succeed once they were there.
To make learning even more engaging, CHF revamped the education centre with vibrant new furniture. Brightly coloured tables and chairs created a warm, welcoming atmosphere, making the centre a space where learning feels like joy, not a chore.
These efforts underscore CHF’s mission: empowering every child with equal opportunities, regardless of their background. World Bicycle Day is a reminder of how simple solutions—like a bicycle— can change the trajectory of a child’s life.
As we reflect on this special day, let us remember: a bicycle can be the bridge between a child's dreams and their reality. Through continued support and collective action, we can ensure that no child is left behind simply because they live far from school.
At Child Help Foundation, we are committed to pedalling forward—towards hope, dignity, and a brighter future for every child.
Let’s celebrate World Bicycle Day by supporting the cause of education and mobility for all. Because when a child pedals to school, they pedal towards a better tomorrow.
